Laundry Closet

We just purchased a new washer and dryer - now it's time to fix the organization issue in the laundry room. The custom organization system will help to give us the space we need while making it look presentable when company is over. Stay tuned for the next steps in our journey! Thanks for following along.

If you have a small laundry room, you know how important it is to make use of every square inch of space. We're lucky to have the laundry closet on the second floor, but any sort of door is going to be problematic. We don't like bi-fold doors. They're always getting stuck and they take up space when they're open. Plus, the laundry room is right off the hallway - not the best look when we have guest staying down the hall.

I'm thinking of ditching the traditional doors altogether and mounting them on swing and slide hinges. Then, once opened, the doors will be hidden next to the appliances. Most of the time, these doors stay open anyway. We just need it nice when we have company.

We knew we want shelves and we want the shelves to be largely open so we have more flexibility with storage. We have also decided that we're building a platform with drawers to put the washer and dryer on. They move around a lot, let’s keep them contained, shall we?

AND it could be nice to have a wood countertop to fold laundry on. Is this another opportunity for a trip to the saw mill?

Let me know in the comments if you have any ideas on laundry room organization that I should keep in mind.

Until next time...happy hobbying! :)
